• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

When I obtained my Skybolt, it had just come back from paint and it had been taken apart to be painted. The original plumbing for the top fuel tank was lost in the process.
As I look at original pictures of my aircraft and the fuel line routing down the right rear cabane strut, I am disappointed that it spoils the looks of the aircraft.
When in Phoenix recently to do some Pitts flying, I saw a new SKybolt (3 years old) that did not have the top tank.
My questions are
How many Skybolts actually have the top tank?Of those, how many are used and/or needed?Has anyone ever routed the fuel line down the interior of the removable cabane strut?
My aircraft has the IO540 and as such the top tank would provide at best 40 minutes of cruise.
My intended use is acro, but you never know about some xctry
Any and all thoughts would be appreciated.
