• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Just wanted to advise the community of the benefits of the aileron gap seals. This is the cheapest and easiest modification you can do for a major improvement,
Cost $150 for an increased roll rate for between 20-30%, its really more than that but as i have no way to accurately calculate it i will down play it. Secondly the Aileron controls inputs force is reduced by the same amount, the stick is so much lighter. The the initial stick movement has more of an impact than it did previously.
I am not an engineer so cant tell you why this happens and i only did the top of each aileron note the bottom and did not place he tape in the middle (see hyperlink below) and don't think i will as the change is so dramatic.
I used the 38mm Curved mylar with out adhesive and the double sided tape and the anti peel safety tape in white 19mm wide.
It also look very neat
