• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Merry Christmas Everybody!

Well, looks like I'm buying a 1969 EAA Biplane project. It's supposed to be all there except the engine/exhaust (0-320, dynofocal mount is there and prop). I haven't seen it, but had someone from the Short Wing Piper community take a look at it for me. Here's a portion of his opinion:

"If you could pick up a wrecked Tri-Pacer or anything

Firewall forward you could get in it fairly cheaply.

I think if you spent some time on it it might come back.

Firewall forward off something and lots of elbow grease

You would probably have a decent airplane. In my opinion it has good bones."

I've got a TriPacer now, but it's not fun flying solo like my Mustang II (383 hours TW) used to be...so I'm trying to get back to fun flying when my family isn't with me. I can't afford to buy a flying 2nd plane so figured a project would be the cheapest route initially (probably more in the long run). My wife said she'd help me with the "elbow grease" so we'll be able to spend time together getting the plane ready for when I find an engine for it.

I've searched the forum for as much information on the plane as I can find, but I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions. I'm also open to any tips that y'all might want to throw my way.

I tried to post a few pictures from the Barnstormers ad, but couldn't so maybe after I'm off probation I can (if that's the problem).

Again, Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good flight!

Chad
