Those of you using 4130 for drag/antidrag wires, what did you use for the coating? I initially used the polyfiber epoxy primer. It requires topcoat and went bad pretty quickly without.
I'm thinking of powdercoating the rods, installing them in place, cleaning the threads up to the brace blocks, installing the nuts, then hand painting the exposed threads. I want to be sure these are durable because they won't be accessible behind wooden leading edges.
What have members used successfully? especially those who have had their planes for many years..or years of experience with a particular product.
