So I had a brake line leak... I took today off to fix it before the snowbird comp.
I fixed the line now I have a question about bleeding them. I have the reservoir mounted to the firewall inside the cowling. It is about an inch ID 5-6 inch long tube with caps welded on. It has a vent tube about 30" that runs from the top to the bottom of the cowling with a plug.
Now I was told that after I put new brake fluid in that I would have to remove .5 to an inch of fluid to ensure that the fluid does not heat up and cause a brake to lock.
1. This true?
2. How do I do that with this type of system?
I have been told that I should just fill it up from the bottom till it runs out the vent tube, leave it alone and let the fluid drain from that vent tube and that now empty vent tube will act as the fluid overflow once it gets hot.... That sounds good, but I'd like some confirmation from the hive.
Next question... Since both brakes are tied into the same reservoir... Do I need to pump fluid into both sides?
Currently, both brake pedals feel about the same.
I'd hate to die - So let me know.
