Hi,
Several times now I have experienced minor engine surges after takeoff.
The most recent time was today. Outside air temperature was a pleasant 85 degrees Fahrenheit. I started up the engine, taxied to the runway, did my runup, and took off.
About 5 seconds after lift off, the engine dropped 50-100 RPM for several seconds and then caught back up and a few seconds later surged a second time. I continued a climbing turn to keep me over the airport as I climbed out. After that I did not have any more issues.
Previously I experienced this during a ~50F day and so I figured I hadn't given the engine enough time to warm up the oil (Aeroshell 100W SAE50).
This most recent time and the previous time the outside temperature was about the same, ~80-85F.
Where should I begin to troubleshoot this?
Thanks,
Glenn
