• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

What's up guys?
Last Febuary I put 2 new Odyssey PC 680 batteries in the Model 12. They are connected in series 24V because it has a 24V starter. I have not flown it in about a month. Last weekend we got a nice day so me and my son got ready to go fly. We got it to find out the batteries did not have enough ass to turn it over. I charged my batteries with my Odyssey charger and it is all good now.
Should I keep a battery maintainer on the plane at all times to keep the battery full? What do you guys do? Or should I just charge the batteries every 6 months to refresh them? It does not take much juice to fire the M14, usually as soon as I touch the key it is running.
I have been reading and some folks say do not put a maintainer on a Odyssey and some do.
Just wondering if I should buy a 24V batteryminder or if that is a bad idea?
