• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

I’ve been watching the few Pitts S-2E’s that keep getting listed on BS. The market seems to agree that they are over priced but at least one of the owners seems willing to negotiate. Unfortunately it doesn’t appear to have the symmetrical ailerons of the later models. How big of a difference are we talking? I assume it’s probably just as easy to build a set of aftermarket wings from Raven versus trying to modify the existing wings. I don’t imagine there are a lot of used e/a wings floating around.

How do the frise models compare to something like a Skybolt or acrosport? I’ve seen lots of nice Skybolt for sale recently but due to hangar constraints an S-2E or Acrosport are about the biggest I can comfortably go. I’m not interested in competing, just a fun toy so ultimately it doesn’t matter other than re-sale desirability.
