• The Biplane Forum is a large global active community of biplane builders, owners and pilots. From Pitts to Skybolts, to older barnstormers, all types are welcome. In addition to our active community, our content boasts exhaustive technical information which is often sought after for projects and maintenance. This information has accumulated over the 12+ years the forum has been in existence.

The Biplane Forum is a private community. Subscriptions are only $49.99/year or $6.99/month to gain access to this great community and unmatched source of information not found anywhere else on the web. We are also a great resource for non biplane users, since many GA aircraft are built the same way (fabric and tube construction). Annual membership also comes with two BiplaneForum.com decals.

Hi everybody.
Just wanted to introduce myself to you.
My Dad and me are starting a Radial Skybolt over here in Germany. Right now we are clearing the last formal things with the OUV (which is the german equivalent for the EAA) If everything goes well we will cut the first tubing for the fuselage structure in spring 2015.

Right now im writing the piclist for the tubing neccesary. Until now i'm quite close to Jerry's list which i found here. Sadly the plans do not specify the digonal tubing stiffing out som of the members.
I already asked Steen and they gave me a suggestion what to use but told me that Curtiss who draw the plans didnt specify these particular tubes.
For that it wuld be interesting what you guys used.

I ve marked the tubing in the picture attached, here is what steen suggested to use:

00-00 = (3/4x.049) (G)
24-00 = (7/8x.049) (D)
85-77 = (3/4x.035) (H)
85-105 = (3/4x.035) (H)
105-111 = (5/8x.035) (K)

Is that what you would use?

Thanks for all information about that.

Flo
