I have been flying and maintaining the 10-200 that I built. Over the years there have been a few small maintenance issues that have crossed my path. First is the lower slave strut drive arm needing a drain hole drilled in it to drain any accumulated water from causing corrosion in the bottom of the arm and a similar hole/holes drilled in the tailwheel spring mount reinforcing plate for the same reason.
Some people have had slave strut flutter problems as have I. The wings as built according to plans have a 7 degree sweepback as do the slave struts. With the streamline tube being at 7 degree angle to the airstream, it is basically stalling and creating flutter. I had to experiment with numerous flights to install welding rod stall strips in order to calm the problem. Now no motion to 205 mph.
Overall performance is below that of a lightly built S1 mainly due to some more robust construction items. Main spars are full depth, second set of rear flying/landing wire, (heavier wings); flaperon control, (more complex with mixer and associated steel); heavier fiberglass cowl/canopy; as well as any builder niceties/overbuild items that "had to be had". My empty weight with an angle valve IO-360/metal Sensenich metal prop is 928#. Performance is more than I will ever be able to utilize as I mainly do recreational/sportsman aerobatics.
